We are the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine chapter of Student Doctors for America (SDFA). We are a group of students aimed at putting patients over politics by helping our community get the health coverage and healthcare they deserve. We work directly with our surrounding Cleveland community in increasing access to health insurance and bridging the gab between coverage and healthcare. As a student chapter of the national organization Doctors For America (DFA), we collaborate closely on campaigns that bring awareness and action to health issues affecting our communities locally and nationally.
Please let us know if you want to learn more about SDFA at CWRU by contacting any of our leaders.
As dedicated members of Student Doctors for America (SDFA), our mission is to mobilize medical students to be passionate and determined leaders in putting patients over politics on the pressing issues of the day to improve the health of our patients, communities, and nation. Our guiding principles stem from our national organization, Doctors for America (DFA). These principles include:
(1) Every person in America has a fundamental right to equitable, high-quality, and affordable health care,
(2) Everyone should have the opportunity to lead a healthy life,
(3) Every part of society should value and promote healthy families and communities, and
(4) Doctors should take a leadership role in improving health care and ending health disparities.
We aim to enhance the experience of medical students at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine through active engagement with our community population in a number of initiatives, with topics that include health insurance access and education, increased access to nutrition, support for robust scientific research, violence prevention, and elimination of health disparities.
